All experiences of grief, and loss, are unique to each of us. Grief is the internal part and process of loss. It can be intense, heartbreakning and complicated. Whether the loss is due to the dissolution of a relationship, the death of a loved one, or from changes during life's journey, the experiences can change our identities, our behaviors; our lives. Although a natural part of life's experiences, Bereavement and adjustment to loss is a process; but we we can become paralyzed, blanketed in numbness and isolated among many other challenges.
Counseling can help the process of acceptance and assist us in re-emerging back into life which can often feel different, strange or even foreign. In situations that prolong, or complicate grief, (such as a suicide, homicide, a loss of a child or as an unexpected death/loss), counseling can facilitate individual adjustment, it helps you develop resiliency characteristics and assists us in reconnecting us with fully living our lives once again.
